Is Here

Chinese Proverb:
"If we do not change our direction, we are likely to end up where we are headed."

It is neither economically or environmentally sustainable to use energy the way we do in the U.S.. Over half the energy we consume is wasted, considering the cost effective solutions now available. Because most of the energy we use comes from burning fossil fuels, large amounts of "greenhouse gases" (such as carbon dioxide; CO-2) are released into the atmosphere, posing a threat to the sustainability of life on earth.

According to mainstream scientists representing the U.S. Government and other countries around the world, the consequences associated with the growing use of fossil fuels are too serious, and the probabilities of economic/environmental disruption too great, to stay on the current path.

The U.S. and other countries are currently negotiating the implementation details of Global Climate Change Agreements made in Kyoto Japan last December (1997). Now more than ever it is important to appreciate the impact our individual energy use has on climate change and what each of us must do about it. The sustainability of life on earth depends on it!

People of intelligence and compassion follow a more sustainable path when they understand the critical issues and sensible solutions involved.

What sort of people advocate such a sustainable path? In 1992, approximately 1,700 scientists worldwide, including a majority of the Nobel laureates in the sciences, issued the World Scientists Warning to Humanity. This document constitutes an unprecedented appeal from some of the world's leading scientists on the destruction of the earth's natural resources and what must be done if we are to sustain life on earth.

Another group of independent scientists, working through the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPPC), has studied the impacts of climate change, adaptation strategies, and measures that could be adopted to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The IPCC was established by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) in 1988, to assess scientific information about climate change needed for developing national and international policies accordingly.

This site was developed to help people follow a more sustainable path. It indends to deliver un-biased, straightforward, trustworthy, and reliable information from energy use impacts to intelligent solutions. In this way, we hope to make appropriate energy choices more accessible to everyone.

People need access to quality products and services.

Once people are convinced that their actions can and must make a difference they need ready access to quality products and services. This site provides links to a vast array of energy products and services, helps you learn how to find and select services in your local area, and provides information to help you compare the quality and investment value of your choices.

This site has no commercials, nothing to "sell" (except perhaps the concept of sustainable energy use) and is not biased toward any particular product or service. Information is gradually being added to this site, so be sure to check back for regular updates.
