The Veggie Van

They call it "The Veggie Van" and they fuel it with used vegetable oil from fast food restaurants. During the summers of 1997 and 1998, the Veggie Van took America by storm, logging over 25,000 miles on biodiesel fuel and appearing on the Today Show, Dateline, and CNN. Manhattan Scientifics Successfully Tests Fuel Cell Powered Bicycle
Press Release -- New York City, June 15, 2000 - Manhattan Scientifics, Inc. (OTCBB:MHTX) announced today that it has completed initial development and initial testing of the "HYDROCYLEô", a fuel cell powered bicycle. The prototype bicycle utilizes Manhattan Scientifics' unique and proprietary mid-range power technology developed by the company's NovArs unit in Passau, Germany. The driving range is 70-100 Km (up to 60 miles) at 30 Km/h (18 mph). Discussions are underway with manufacturers.

The VW Vortex breaks fuel economy records at 239 MPG
The world's most economical car was shown to shareholders attending the 42nd annual general meeting of Volkswagen AG in Hamburg. The prototype was built under great secrecy during a time in which such high fuel-economys were thought to be impossible. It was driven under its own power from Volkswagen's plant in Wolfsburg to the meeting in Hamburg by Dr. Ferdinand Piech, currently Chairman of the Board of Management, on April 14th.
